Segway Ninebot ES2 Review

Premium Personal Transporter

Segway Ninebot ES2

The Ninebot ES2 has excellent maneuverability and control. It is perfect for beginners as it is easy to handle. It comes with cruise control, dual braking systems, and responsive throttles. You can accelerate with the right throttle, while the left one is for braking. The scooter also comes with a rear manual brake which can be activated by pressing your foot on the brake. This is the perfect scooter for city driving on a dry day despite the fact that the Ninebot ES2 is IP 54 protected, the tires might have a bad grip on a rainy day.

The Ninebot ES2, a later version of the Ninebot ES1, came out in 2018 and earned a significant amount of fame among Segway’s creations.

Not only is it stylish, but it is also lightweight and comes packed with features such as shock absorbers, anti-theft protection, colored LED lights, and full app control.

  • Easy folding mechanism
  • Well-engineered & well-assembled (with the exception of the tires)
  • Great stability

Cons

  • Only IP54 (not water resistant)

Features

The Ninebot ES2 is a well-designed scooter by Segway that held both comfort and mobility in mind. It is lightweight and foldable, making it easily portable. It has small, hard, non-inflatable tires, and shock absorbers on all wheels to ensure smooth rides. Despite being a great scooter, it is not suited for off-roading.

Power

The ES2 has a maximum speed of 15.5 mph (25 km/h), but can move even faster if the rider weights 60 kg (132.2 lb) or less.

It comes with three power modes, as listed below:

  • Sports Mode: allows maximum acceleration and speed, but drains the battery faster.
  • Standard Mode: allows moderate acceleration, and maximum speed.
  • Speed Limit Mode: both acceleration and speed are slow.

Range

The 87 Wh lithium-ion batteries allow the ES2 to have a maximum range of 15.5 miles (25 km) on a flat surface at a weight of 100 kg (220.4 lb). The more lightweight a scooter is, the more it tends to maximize its range. Still, the range of the scooter depends on many factors, the ground level (standstill or hill), the braking technique, and the wind speed.

Quality and Looks

The design of the ES2 is sleek with a premium look. It has a small frame that is stylish and modern; the colored LED lights. It is overall a reliable scooter, but its non-inflatable tires might wear over time.

Additional Accessories

You can add the following accessories to your ES2 scooter:

  • Secondary Battery
  •  A phone mount
  • A bike bell Additional

The scooter can be turned on or off by a button under the screen.

Once the scooter connects to your smartphone through the Ninebot app, You will have access to the following features:

  1.  Stats (speed, mileage, temperature, and battery life)
  2. Anti-theft – locking the scooter
  3. Switch the rate between MPH and KPH.
  4. Vehicle diagnostics
  5. Firmware upgrades
  6. Tutorials in the learning center
  7. Control the LED lights

LED Coloring

The standing pad of the Ninebot ES2 is equipped with 12 LED lightbulbs that give it a good look while making the rider more visible to other road users at night; the LED lighting is controllable via the app.
